They are self sufficient and will thrive in an environment that gives them the authority to make a difference.

An 8w7’s basic desire is to have full control over themselves and have the opportunity to dream big. Their biggest fear is losing control and they hate reporting to authority figures.
If you want to motivate an 8w7, surround them with other people and loosen up the reigns so that they can make their own choices. They will become stressed in scenarios where they might be perceived as weak.
If you want to work well along side an 8w7, it’s important to make them feel heard. They want to be in charge of themselves, so treat them as your equal and do not boss them around. If you need something of them, be direct and polite about it.
An 8w7 will work best in an environment that offers them freedoms. Specifically, creative freedoms. This enneagram type likes to come up with ideas, so if they’re given the space to do so they will thrive.
